The village Platanias refers to the prefecture of Kidonia since 1577 from Fr. Barozzi and in 1583 from 'Castelguard' with the name Pirgo Platanea with 154 citizens. But Platanias history seems to be much older, since it has been noticed in this area dead person's bodies of the Greek and Roman period.

We identify two regions, one in upper Platanias and the other in down Platanias. In upper Platanias (or Acropolis) there was a fort (observatory), in Turkish domination.

The observatory was placedinside a rock. It was used from Germans at Second World War, because inside the rock they could hide a cannon with which they shooted the ally airplanes.

The shop operates since 1993, we are a family tavern and every Sunday and Saturday we have Greek nights with live music.
