You don’t know what is rakomelo?

I’ll berate..

The famous and quite “strong” this drink has its roots in Crete. Specifically it boiled raki with honey and cinnamon. In several parts of Greece it was used as a medicine for cough (something like cough syrup), while enriched with several additional spices (cloves, orange peel, pennyroyal, sage,etc..) making it even more aromatic and easy drunk.

According to the Cretan tradition, honey of May as they call it, had healing properties. For this reason they kept separately as medicine. Honey the rest of the year, was sold or consumed by the family. They believed that May, the honey coming together of all the healing roperties of flowers and herbs that bloom then. Therefore, anyway high therapeutic abilities maximized. Dispelling the now, in hot spirit (raki) is quickly absorbed by the body and also opens the airways. It started like ... medicine for colds and the common cold to develop into classic drink of the group, together with special delicacies. The...abused (expected and justified) have serious side effects occur: fun, dizziness and euphoria. It’s almost impossible to go out drinking rakomelo with your friends and not turn dizzy. The fact that they served a shot and consumed immediately one after the other, makes them higly addictive and dangerous.
