During the period when the island Naxos was nder Venetian occupation, the castro, home of the Lord in those days, was built. 'The Bourgos' is located on the north side of the Castro, which is italian for 'Stronghold settlement'.

'The Bourgos' has three gates, the 'Exo Bourgos', the 'Jewish district gate' and the 'Porta tou Yialou', which is located on the south side of the Bourgos and is the only gate overlooking the sea.

Our restaurant is situated at the 'Porta tou Yialou'.
This used to be the place where the market developed and all local Naxians met up. We hope 'Porta tou Yialou' becomes once again a popular meeting place for all Naxians and of the island.

Porta tou gialou where the tavern, we developed the commercial traffic of the time and place point meeting of the inhabitants of Naxos.

Our wish is to redo porta tou gialou meeting all Naxioton and visitors of our island.
