The store started operating in 1932 when the grandfather Vangelis Katsas sold wine, jugs, Sifnian jugs and fish species.
Pelaisos was named because he had a sponge-like boat and went for sponges in the Aegean.
In 1965 had started to work the son of Mr. Vangelis, Kostas, and slowly the shop became a tavern and the tavern became a restaurant.
Today the shop has passed to the third generation the grandson of Mr. Vangelis, named Vangelis who continues the family tradition.
From this point on almost 70 years of operation, many have been named and anonymous to taste the well-cooked homemade food of Mrs. Maria and her always cool retsina. Among them, the poet Nikolaos Lissas, who in a corner of the tavern recited his 'Garyfiadas' the poet Katerina Angelaki - Rouk, Greek and foreign artists and intellectuals, but mostly simple people who enjoyed it morning light or beautiful sunset.
